The Symphony Orchestra of Russia was created in 1991 by the outstanding Russian conductor Veronica Dudarova. Consisting of famous musicians from Moscow and other musical centres of the former Soviet Union, in the course of years the orchestra has gained lots of admirers and has become well-known for its high-quality performances which until today it has proved in more than 300 concerts at the best Russian concert halls. The name of Veronica Dudarova, is famous not only in Russia but all over the world. A peculiarity of Veronica Dudarova and her orchestra is an attention to young and gifted musicians that take part in joined concerts with the orchestra: here it is the gifted young conductor Tugan Sohiev whom Veronica Dudarova named chief conductor of the orchestra in the beginning of 2002.
The concert on the DVD in hand was recorded live in December 2002 in the Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatory. Accompanied by the renowned pianist Naum Shtarkman, the orchestra performs works by Frederic Chopin and Franz Liszt. The performer and teacher Shtarkman is rated among the best contemporary musicians.
