Order No: 60022Moscow Virtuosi Conductor: Vladimir Spivakov The Moscow Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra was founded in 1979 by Vladimir Spivakov, one of the most famous violinists of our days, after his debut as conductor with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra at the Ravinia Festival. Their debut was so successful that it made him select this group of high standard soloists from the most important posts in the greatest orchestras of the Soviet Union to create his own ensemble. The DVD in hand presents the orchestra performing two of Johann Sebastian Bach’s most popular violin concertos: the Concert for two Violins, Strings and b.c. BWV 1043 in d minor and the Concert for Violin, Strings and b.c. BWV 1041 in a minor, as well as Mozart’s only Concert for Oboe and Orchestra KV 285d in C major, featuring the renowned oboe player Alexey Utkin. The live recording from 1991 ends with two stunning Mozart encores and a enthusiastic audience. As special feature the DVD offers artist biographies in four languages as well as a film documentary on life and work of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. |
