The Moscow Virtuosos were founded in 1979 by Vladimir Spivakov, one of the most famous violinists of our days. He selected this group of high standard soloists from the most important posts in the greatest orchestras of the former Soviet Union to create his own ensemble. As soon as it was formed, the ensemble was called from all over the world. In 1987 they made their debut in the United States with such success that they returned in 1989 for a twenty-four-concert tour, and have regularly come back every year to perform in the most important halls. Since 1989, the Moscow Virtuosi, with Vladimir Spivakov as conductor, regularly attend Music Festivals all over the world where they give not only concerts but also master classes.
The DVD in hand presents the orchestra performing two of Johann Sebastian Bach’s most popular violin concertos as well as Mozart’s only Concert for oboe and orchestra,  featuring the renowned oboe player Alexey Utkin. The live recording from 1991 ends with two stunning Mozart encores and an enthusiastic audience.
