Two years later he performed Grieg’s Piano Concerto with the Korean National Orchestra. When he was fifteen, he was chosen to represent his country at the Dimitri Mitropolous Competition in New York, where he was awarded a special prize. He moved to New York to study at the Juilliard School. He won the prestigious Busoni Competition and the first prize at the Walter Naumburg Competition. This series of competitions launched his international career, which began by a triumphal performance at the Alice Tully Hall in New York, followed by a concert at the Carnegie Hall. Kun Woo Paik was awarded the Golden Tuning Fork of the Year and the 1993 New Record Academy Grand Prix for his recording of Prokofiev’s five concerts.Sung Sic Yang entered the Paris Academy in 1979 and studied at the “Advance Solo Studies Course” at the Guildhall School in London. He has performed as a soloist throughout Europe. At the Seoul Olympic Games, he played concertos by Tchaikovsky and Mendelssohn with the Moscow Philharmonic. This performance was crowned by a record. Sung Sic Yang won the First Grand Prix at the Carl Flesh International Competition in London and made a recording for the BBC. He made his début in New York with a recital which was universally praised by both audiences and critics. Sung Sic Yang plays a 1727 Guarnerius de Gesu. | |||
