Reggae Showdown Vol. 1:
Dennis Brown
Live at Reggae Canfest
Featured Artists: Dennis Brown, Lady Saw Lloyd Parks and We The People Band, Admiral Tibet, Frankie Paul, Conrad Crystal
One of Jamaica's most beloved and prolific artists, the late Dennis Brown has left behind a slew of classic songs, a rich musical legacy born of a career that spanned over 30 years.
The DVD in hand presents Brown’s last show on film before his untimely death in 1999 and shows “The Crown Prince of Reggae”  at his best, performing one hour of his legendary hits such as “Love and Hate”, “Stop Yu Fighting” and many more. Until today, Dennis Brown, whom Bob Marley ecstatically called “the best reggae singer in the world”, remains the only artist in Jamaica to have over eighty Number One Hit Songs.
The present concert recorded at Reggae Canfest also features performances by Brown’s long-term collaborators Lloyd Parks and We The People Band, by Lady Saw, Admiral Tibet, Frankie Paul and Conrad Crystal.
Lady Saw counts as the first female Dancehall act to win a Grammy. She is regarded by many as the reigning Queen of the Dancehall in Jamaica and enjoys arguably the most sustained career as a female artist in the industry.
Lloyd Parks and We The People Band are world renowned as one of the most versatile and accomplished reggae bands and are celebrating 28 years in the music industry.
Admiral Tibet got his start in Jamaican clubs and in sound systems as a teen. With his own original style of crooning, Tibet was a popular voice of the '80s and one of the few singers who maintained a presence in the deejay-dominated period of the early to mid-1990s.
